They do not collect the same data and do not use the same service providers, so they are described in two separate parts: what is written for one does not apply to the other.

Who is responsible for this processing?

The application and website are published by Guillaume Fingar, a sole proprietor under French law.

For any questions about your data, write to ciao@sliceofnapoli.com. The publisher's full postal address details can be found in the legal notices.

This email address is the single point of contact, for both the application and the website.

The Slice of Napoli app

In summary: the application does not create any profiles and does not transmit any data about you, with two exceptions, which you control. The first: the suggestions you send us yourself. The second: your IP address, which is transmitted to the map providers when the map is displayed. Details follow.

No account, no login

The app doesn't require registration, an email address, or a password. We don't know who you are, and we don't assign any identifier to your device. Your settings and the guide's content remain on your phone.

Your position

The application uses your location for three things: to locate you on the map, to calculate your distance to addresses in the guide (including in the home screen widget), and to notify you when you pass near an address.

For these proximity alerts to work even when the application is not open, iOS requests "Always" permission: the application then monitors, in the background, significant changes in position and entry into the zones surrounding the addresses in the guide.

Your contact details are never sent to us. Your location data is not sent to our servers or to any third-party service: the suggestion form does not send latitude or longitude, and nothing else in the application transmits your location. It is simply stored on your device, in a storage space shared between the application and its widget, so that the widget can calculate distances. This data disappears if you delete the application.

One caveat, described below: when the map is centered on you, the map images requested from suppliers correspond to the area where you are located.

You can refuse location services or disable them at any time in your iOS settings. Proximity alerts are optional and can be turned off within the app. The rest of the guide will continue to function without location services.

The "Suggest an Improvement" form«

If you report an error or suggest an address, the application sends to our server: the name of the place concerned and its internal identifier, the category or categories chosen, your message, the language of the application and, if you add them, up to three photos.

This message is being sent to our own server, The website that hosts sliceofnapoli.com is used. No third-party form collection services are involved; only our hosting provider, listed below, technically stores the message. No location data accompanies the submission: the transmitted message contains neither latitude nor longitude. The photos you attach are recompressed before sending, which generally erases the information recorded by your device, including the location where the photo was taken; in rare cases, if this recompression fails, the photo will be sent exactly as your device recorded it.

You decide what to write in your message: only include what you want to tell us. If you leave your email address to receive a reply, we will only use it to respond to you.

Card funds, and transfers outside the European Union

The images that make up the map (the "tiles") are not stored in the application: they are downloaded as they are needed from two American providers.

Esri (server.arcgisonline.com) for the four map backgrounds: satellite view, dark background, name overlay and street map.

Amazon Web Services (s3.amazonaws.com) for relief data.

Displaying the map therefore transmits your IP address and the map area you are viewing to these two companies. This is the only transfer outside the European Union related to viewing the guide. The in-app purchase, described below, is handled by Apple according to its own rules. These providers receive a request for images; they do not receive your GPS location, your identity, or what you do within the application.

The "Full Access" purchase«

The in-app purchase is processed entirely through Apple's payment system. No banking information passes through us: we never see your card number, and we do not have a list of purchasers. The management of your purchase is governed by Apple's terms and conditions.

The camera and your photos

The application requests access to your photo library and camera in two situations, and only in those two situations:

when you choose to save an image displayed in the guide to your photos;

when you choose to attach a photo to an improvement suggestion, whether it is taken on the spot or chosen from your photos.

Apart from these two cases, no images from your device are read or sent. You can deny these permissions: the rest of the guide works without them.

No measurement tools, no third-party libraries

The application does not contain no audience measurement tools, no advertising trackers, and no third-party development kits No external dependencies, no usage statistics, no advertising. Fonts are embedded in the application. Nothing is recorded about how you use the guide. What is described below for the website does not apply to the application.

The website sliceofnapoli.com

In summary: on the site, your browsing activity may be recorded by a measurement tool, the activation of which depends on your choice in the banner. Fonts, however, are loaded from Google's servers as soon as the page opens, before any selection on your part: this is described below.

Cookies and consent

On your first visit, a banner will ask for your choice. Nothing non-essential will be stored or activated until you accept. Consent is managed by the Complianz extension, with four categories: Functional, Preferences, Statistics, and Marketing. You can modify or withdraw your choice at any time by reopening the cookie management window.

Details of the trackers are included in our cookie policy.

Microsoft Clarity

The site uses Microsoft Clarity, a navigation analysis tool published by Microsoft, an American company.

In practice, when you accept it, Clarity records: your clicks, your scrolling, your mouse movements, and it produces a replay of your session, that is to say a replayable recording of your journey on the pages, as well as heat maps that aggregate these actions across all visitors.

What this is for: to understand which parts of the site are read, which are ignored, and where visitors get lost, in order to correct the pages.

What we do not do with them: we do not seek to identify you, we do not cross-reference these recordings with the messages you send us, and we do not resell them.

Clarity only activates if you have accepted the "Statistics" category. Until you give this consent, its script will not run.

In all cases, data collection takes place even without a cookie placed on your device: this is why it requires your consent. To stop it, reopen the cookie management window and decline the "Statistics" category. The data is processed by Microsoft, which describes its practices in its privacy statement.

This tool is present only on the website. It's not in the application.

The contact form

The website form collects your first and last name, email address, and message. This information is used solely to reply to you. It is transmitted to and stored on our WordPress server.

Fonts

The site loads three fonts (Frances, Inter, and Roboto) from Google's servers. This download transmits your IP address to Google and occurs when the page loads, before you choose your cookie preferences. We are reporting this because it is currently happening.

Accommodation

The website is hosted on a shared server which, like all web servers, records technical connection logs. The hosting provider's contact information is available in the legal notice and can be provided upon request.

Legal basis

Each processing operation is based on a legal basis as defined by the GDPR:

Location tracking within the app and proximity alerts → your consent, given via iOS authorization and withdrawable in the settings.

Suggestions sent from the application → Your consent: you decide to write and send.

Displaying map backgrounds → our legitimate interest in providing a functional mapping guide, a map being inseparable from the service.

In-app purchase → the execution of the purchase contract, concluded and processed by Apple.

Website contact form → Your consent: you decide to write to us.

Microsoft Clarity → your consent, collected by the banner and withdrawable at any time.

Saving your cookie preferences → our legal obligation to retain proof of this choice.

Server technical logs and fonts → our legitimate interest in displaying and maintaining the site in working order.

Shelf life

Your position : never stored by us, since it never reaches us. It remains on your device and disappears with the application.

Suggestions sent from the application : 12 months after the suggestion treatment.

Messages from the contact form : 3 years after the last exchange.

Your choice regarding cookies : 6 months, after which the question is asked again.

Microsoft Clarity Records : retained by Microsoft for a limited period, as defined by its service. We do not keep any copies of them ourselves.

Server technical logs : 6 months.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to limit its use, to object to its processing, to retrieve the data you have provided to us, and to withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise them, write to ciao@sliceofnapoli.com. We will respond within one month.

An important point to clarify: since the application doesn't request an account and doesn't transmit any personally identifiable information to us, we don't hold any data in your name simply by using it. Your rights, therefore, are limited to the messages you've sent us and your browsing activity on the website.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can contact the CNIL: 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, or www.cnil.fr.

Transfers outside the European Union

Complete summary of cases where data leaves the European Union:

Application : your IP address and the map area viewed are transmitted to Esri and Amazon Web Services, in the United States, to display the map.

Site Your browsing data is transmitted to Microsoft in the United States if you accept statistics; your IP address is transmitted to Google in the United States when fonts are loaded.

Purchase The payment is processed by Apple, according to its own rules.

These transfers outside the European Union are based on the safeguards provided for in Chapter V of the GDPR. If you would like details on a supplier-by-supplier basis, please write to us and we will provide them to you.

The miners

This guide is intended for adult travelers. Neither the website nor the app asks for your age, and we do not knowingly collect data about children. If you have parental authority and believe your child has submitted information to us via a form, please contact us: we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

This policy evolves along with the application and website.
